Black Swamp Specials
Hello, my name is Ronnie Ladd aka SwampHunter. I grew up in Arkansas’ delta region. I have been hunting waterfowl ever since I was able to tote a gun. I learned to hunt ducks for food, and not for sport. I quickly gained a passion for duck hunting. At age 15 I started guiding to support my passion. Later in life that turned from supporting my hobby into feeding my family. We hunted a lot of timber growing up and next to splashing water a duck call was the best way to pull birds into the trees. I have owned several different calls in my life, and each has served a purpose. Some better than others. Quite a few years ago I turned to custom calls for function as well as looks. I have always known Jon, but never knew he made calls. I talked to Jon one day at a show, and had a chance to blow his calls. I was very impressed at the sound as well as the craftsmanship. I wanted a special made call. Jon was eager to attack the challenge. Jon made exactly what I wanted. Since then I have bought another to add to my arsenal. I don’t guide anymore, but I still hunt almost every day of the season. Black Swamp Specials will produce a lot of birds when other calls won’t. over 13 years of duck hunting experiance under my belt, I think
I have tried just about all of the duck calls out there including
those "Well Known" calls. I can honestly say that not
one matches up with the craftmanship, sound quality and customer
service that Jon offers with his calls. Jon's calls are straight
duck killing tools---his calls, without a doubt make the differance
between duck watching and duck Killing. I would just as soon leave

Swamp Special Duck Calls. I started duck hunting 4 years ago without a call to my name. I wanted to learn to call the ducks instead of watching someone else do it and all I had to do was shoot. I bought a few off the shelf brands which were ok but I was missing something. I wanted a genuine Arkansas single reed custome built. I called Jon up and we talked calls for a long time. He understood exactly what I was looking for and also gave me some pointers. I now have two of his calls that I will never be in the field without them. They are very finely crafted and after last year I found out how well ducks responded to them. The third custom call I purchase will be a Black Swamp Special.
